Enjoying a tankard of ale at the Prospect of Whitby,
a centuries-old tavern on the bank of the Thames River in London,
England, Robin Mason never dreamed that he and his friend, Patrick
Bennett, would soon be seeking their own prospects in Whitby, Ontario.
However, his visit to the tavern in the summer of 1992 proved to be
a fore-shadowing. The two lawyers opened their Whitby law practice
in the Spring of 1994.
For both men, the choice of Whitby was as much a personal as a professional
decision. After living and practising law for a time in Toronto, they
wanted to return to their roots: to the kind and size of community
in which they were both raised. Patrick hails from Regina, Saskatchewan;
Robin from Kingston, Ontario.
Their practice services clients in the areas of real estate, corporate
and commercial law, wills and estates, trademarks and copyright.
In the year 2001, recognizing the need to provide their clients
with a broader range of services, they welcomed Ian A. Johncox as
a partner.
Ian had practised law for five years with an established Durham
area firm and brings his litigation expertise to Mason Bennett Johncox.
Ian practices in the areas of employment law, collections, tax and
commercial litigation. With the addition of Ian, Mason Bennett Johncox
is now able to provide comprehensive legal services to the businesses
of Durham.
